Here is my growth strategy for business and life. I know it works because I have been using it successfully for the last 28 years.
It seemed like common sense to me at the time because I am an observer and a visual learner. I like to see how things work. So I can take it apart and put it back together in a way that works for me.
If you’ve followed me for some time, you’ve probably heard my bike story. A BMX bike is something that I always wanted as a kid but never got.
And it was for good reason. You see, I was hard on things like bikes and motorcycles. Always pushing the limits which occasionally resulted in costly repairs.
There was no way in hell my parents were going to pay $300 of their hard earned money for a bicycle for me to break. So, I did the next best thing. I scrounged up old bike parts and built my own.
Yes, they were ugly and not the highest quality, but they were perfect for cruising, jumping and crashing. I had no interest in competing, only having fun.
As I look back, it was just what I needed and also fit the budget.
The same thing is true for coaching or mentoring. Fortunately, I was never attracted to the “mega” coaches in business because they were usually focusing on something other than I was building.
When I wanted to improve my real estate marketing game, I could have hired Tom Ferry, Brian Buffini or Craig Proctor. I could have gone to work for KW.
But I didn’t want to build a brokerage or a big team.
In fact, I wanted the opposite. I didn’t want the headaches of hiring and managing a bunch of people. I had enough of that when I was in the medical device industry. Instead, I wanted to make the most amount of money with the fewest number of employees.
So, I looked for people who were already doing what I wanted to do. Those who knew the best way to that path, could steer me around the obstacles and were willing to educate.
Over the last twelve years, we’ve been able to build a business that works for us with no assistants or employees. And we still have room to grow. We simply designed everything around out strengths, built efficiencies and outsourced the rest to trusted partners.
It what I call, doubling down on your strengths.
This means that I am not the best coach/mentor/educator for everyone. If it’s your desire to build a large team or brokerage, those guys I listed above are your best bet.
However, if you want to learn how to generate more leads, sales and sold signs without having to recruit, follow up and manage agents then this go here before I double the price again:
