Spend so much money on the time slots
Put in so much value into the production
Feature your favorite stars
And you would be flat wrong. These ads are revered because they are highly entertaining. They make us laugh, cry or just feel good about ourselves. And the advertisers hope they make an emotional connection.
Because we all know that people don’t remember what you said, but they remember how you made them feel.
The purists of the marketing world would say that emotional connection trumps entertainment every day.
These self-righteous folks are right, but only in theory.
In real life, if you don’t capture someones attention through entertainment, you’ll never have it long enough to make an emotional connection.
