Tomorrow is the 9th REBarCamp Nashville. If you’ve never been to a REBarCamp, this is a great one to attend and is the largest in the country with about 1,500 people attending.
REBarCamps are one of the best places to learn about tech and marketing in our industry because of the format. Instead of boring lectures or classes, you get to engage in conversations with some of the best and brightest in the nation.
It will be my eighth time attending and my seventh as a facilitator/teacher. Last year, I was honored to speak with Jay Thompson of Zillow on content creation. And tomorrow, I get to speak with two other greats in real estate education, Sean Carpenter and Jeff Chalmers.
We are going to be talking about Creating Value-Added Content Online (with an emphasis on Value).
Creating and publishing content is not enough simply because of the amount of content that is currently available online.
For example, a Google search on “Tips to stage your home” provides 1.3 billion results. It would seem that everything that could be said on staging your home has already been said.
But there are at least three valuable things that are missing from nearly every one of these 1.3 billion results. Without them, these articles are nothing more than boring information.
One of the ways to add value is to give your expert opinion. Most of us shy away from giving this in writing, even though we rarely have trouble doing it in person.
So, here’s my advice for you today. When you go to writing that staging tip post, do this instead.
Tell a story about how your staging tips helped someone sell their home. How the sellers felt before your advice and how they became a hero when they took your advice.
And then offer to have a conversation with them about it.
This is how you take a boring article and turn it into something that your prospects will find valuable and will make your phone ring.
And this is not the only way to add value. In the March edition of the Insiders, I share with you several ways to add value to all the content you create. So you can break through the noise in your busy market and get noticed.
The good news is that there are two ways to get this valuable info. One would be to attend REBarCamp Nashville tomorrow. The other is to join the Insiders today.
